Hello dear forum,
we can’t decide whether to choose the dining table measuring 2 m x 1 m (6.6 ft x 3.3 ft) or 2.20 m x 1 m (7.2 ft x 3.3 ft).
We would actually prefer if there were 3 chairs on each side and none at the head or foot of the table. However, the chairs can’t be pushed under the table because the table legs get in the way. That’s why we’re unsure if the table with the chairs will take up too much space. The chairs are 60 cm (24 inches) deep. The table is positioned so the chairs are on the west and east sides.
What do you think??

*lol I just had to check this out—how can you write 10 pages about a 20cm (8 inch) difference in table size?
We have an extendable table due to space constraints. It’s a simple one from Tchibo, made of metal with frosted glass panels—I don’t like transparent glass. The table measures 1.20 x 0.90 meters (4 x 3 feet) and can be extended to 2.40 meters (8 feet). I don’t remember the exact price, either €150 or €250.

It was actually a makeshift solution; we would have preferred a wooden table, but there were no nice ones in the furniture stores. They were either too big or too expensive. The usual ones with crank or fold-out mechanisms just looked cheaply made, like poorly veneered.
So, this is what we ended up with. I’m still hoping that at some point the kids will eat neatly enough so I can skip the tablecloths and just use placemats. Unfortunately, that will take some time. But at least we’ve made progress from wipeable plastic tablecloths to fabric ones.

There are also tables with extension leaves.
We have one, and it’s portable.
Top is 2 by 1 meter (6.6 by 3.3 feet) made of solid core beech. I would need to measure the extension leaf; the extension is about 50 cm (20 inches), also solid core beech.
If we need more than 2.5 m (8.2 feet) of table space, it won’t be a “perfect dinner” anyway, so then we have to use a patio table or beer benches.

pagoni202019 Jul 2020 18:34For us, it is 110cm (43 inches), and at an end width with a chair, it is 90cm (35 inches), which is still acceptable there since the other side is open. However, we do not have chairs with armrests, which might also have an impact.
