Hello,
I am currently considering which built-in appliances should be planned for the new kitchen. I would like to use an oven, microwave, and steam oven.
The quickest solution would be three separate built-in appliances. However, there are also combined options available, naturally at a wide range of prices. So, what makes the most sense as individual appliance(s):
- Oven, microwave, and steam oven (3 appliances)
- Oven, microwave/steam oven (2 appliances)
- Oven/steam oven and microwave (2 appliances)
- Oven/microwave and steam oven (2 appliances)
- Oven/microwave/steam oven (1 appliance)
One appliance would probably be the space-saving and cost-effective option. However, you would need to carefully consider which food to heat and in which order inside the device. Space is not an issue. I was thinking about appliances from BSH (Bosch, Siemens, Constructa, etc.).

I would choose a combination steam oven, meaning an oven that can also be used as a steam cooker, and an oven with a microwave function—if a microwave is needed at all. Since we got a combination steam oven, we no longer need a microwave. We actually regret that our second appliance is just a regular oven and not another combination steam oven.
We have an oven with an integrated microwave and a steam oven. We often use the steam oven for casseroles and baking bread. I wouldn’t buy a dedicated steam cooker, as you can steam vegetables on the stovetop just as well, so a steam cooker isn’t really worth it.

We have combined a steam oven and a conventional oven, with a separate microwave.
If I could choose again, I would go for two ovens stacked on top of each other—a steam oven and a conventional oven—as that wouldn’t have caused any issues with the food. I don’t see any advantages in having only a steam oven.
