Good evening,
We have the following problem: sometimes there is a smell of marijuana or hashish in the children's room. We recently bought the house. It is a prefabricated house with a solid basement. The children's room was completely renovated, meaning new flooring, new wallpaper, and a dropped ceiling installed. This smell does not occur all the time. We cut some holes in the wall to check whether the mineral wool insulation was okay, which it is. The insulation is dry and does not smell like that. We also found no animals or anything else. Please help, as we are getting desperate. Oh, and no one in our household or the neighborhood smokes marijuana.

Here are the excerpts again. For you @Vicky Pedia

Yep... maybe measure specifically for THC.
ypg schrieb:

THC is the active ingredient... it’s not present in the air but in the plant material itself.

Well, then take a look at what’s growing outside. Also touch and rub it a bit; it’s not always there, so the wind carries it into the house.

Please explain in more detail!
ypg schrieb:

THC is the toxic active ingredient content of a substance. As far as I know, odors don’t count as active ingredients, at least not in a relevant dose.

Okay! And how does this help the original poster?

I don’t know why you asked me for a detailed explanation at all if you then see a problem in my answers here.
I don’t have any disagreement with you, otherwise I wouldn’t have answered you.
By the way, I don’t respond to private messages if I don’t see a need to.

Sorry @Kudi1985 for going off topic.

So: take a look outside at the plants, or as @hampshire says, check for basket fibers, sisal, or similar.

All good, but thanks anyway !!

Another idea?:
To the original poster, maybe politely ask the police dog handler = express suspicion?
But they actually sniff for sources, not just any smells that are similar

Okay, thanks for your reply. You need it to be public! Sorry, I’m out!

let’s put it this way: I don’t need to hide it in private messages

Isn’t that the answer you’re looking for right now, or does the original poster not want it? The smell must be coming from somewhere.

Maybe something was stored in the walls

- Smell is detected
- Dog comes over
- Dog looks out the window

= no grass or similar.

- Dog barks
= POLAS check from the previous owner

That already happens when a suspicious report is made.
Do you think they might have stored something there?
I’m actually speculating about exterior landscaping.
