Hello, after the final inspection during the flooring installation, we noticed that the interior wall of the room is 10cm (4 inches) wider on one side than at the other end of the wall. The total length of the wall is 3.54m (11.6 feet). I believe this is definitely beyond acceptable tolerance. Can someone advise what would be a reasonable compensation in this case?

Thank you very much

It's a matter of negotiation or what's stated in your contract. We included a penalty of 1500€ per missing square meter. In the end, we had minor issues here and there, but didn’t really complain about anything. We just wanted to protect ourselves against major mistakes, not to profit from it.

But with 10cm (4 inches), you should have noticed it beforehand, right? That’s quite a significant deviation.

Is the wall wider, or is the room narrower?
The former would be the plaster, the latter a weaker masonry job.
Which one is it?

And immediately it's all about the money... How much can I squeeze out... What is someone else's mistake worth...
Fortunately, the wall is uneven, so I can still get something out of it...

How clueless the German people are...

If a service is not performed properly, I can reasonably expect compensation. After all, you wouldn’t buy a car that doesn’t run.
