Are you aware of any prefab home companies whose wall construction allows you to drill a hole anywhere in the wall?
I prefer wall-mounted cabinets and would like to know what kind of wall structure a prefab home company must have so that I can install wall cabinets almost anywhere, even later on.
Also, I am not yet decided about exterior shutters and would like to know if that is possible with a prefab home, or if some kind of reinforcement needs to be planned in advance.

With houses from Dennert, that is definitely possible.

I think it’s Streif Haus, but I haven’t looked into them in detail.

In my experience, smaller companies—like a local carpenter who also offers timber frame construction—tend to be more flexible: “OSB board? No problem, we can attach that.” However, I can’t tell you how much extra that might cost.

If you want wall cabinets, you should definitely pay attention to that!

Regarding the shutters: Because of the plaster facade, we decided not to attach anything directly to the exterior. Otherwise, you’ll end up with streaks over time. We even want to keep the mailbox separate. So I can’t really say when it’s safe to install these. Are you planning a brick veneer facade?

With wood stud construction using OSB boards and drywall on top, this should be possible almost everywhere without any problems, as far as I know. Ytong (aerated concrete) could be problematic, but that is only an estimate.

I would recommend asking the specific prefab company. For example, Fingerhaus does not offer shutters at all, but for different reasons.

Because kitchens are not installed in Ytong houses? Especially since Ytong is pretty much the exact opposite of a prefabricated house...
