Hello dear home builders,

Do you have a water softening system? Is it really worth it, or is it just a money-making scheme?
Our architect recommended one to us, but the question is whether the 3000 euros really justify it.
I think that’s a lot of money.

Why wouldn’t it be... I am not fully demineralizing it after all

I would be curious about that, too. The only limitation I can think of is waste water with a sodium limit of 200mg/l (200 ppm) and patients with high blood pressure or the preparation of large quantities of infant formula. Although the latter is still a matter of debate...

Minerals are removed from the water, and too much sodium is added. In the long term and in large quantities, I don't think this is healthy for the body.

too much sodium

Sodium is a mineral just like magnesium and calcium. So it’s basically a zero-sum game. Additionally, drinking water regulations limit sodium (Na+) to no more than 200 mg/l (200 mg per liter) at the tap. You are still far, far (farfarfar) away from any potential health risk, as long as you do not belong to a high-risk group (such as people with severe hypertension).
Many mineral waters contain significantly higher concentrations of sodium than the 200 mg/l (200 mg per liter) limit set by drinking water regulations. Some exceed 1000 mg/l (1000 mg per liter). These are sold by the crate without any health warnings.

Question to the group:
Which manufacturer and model do you have?
We also want a system with salt, but are still really undecided about which one?!
