I also find wide gates more attractive – I find many things very appealing until the price is revealed, then their charm suddenly disappears

That’s true

A second bathroom has nothing to do with children not being allowed to see their parents. Managing five people, almost all at once, including different genders going through one bathroom during puberty doesn’t have to happen.

For me, a second bathroom for rush hour is not the same as a “children’s bathroom.” I understand everyone brushing their teeth at the same time, but everyone showering simultaneously seems like something that can be avoided with proper planning. By the way, the teenagers I know usually are the ones who get out of bed at the last minute, often after their parents have already finished using the bathroom long ago.

Then the second bathroom. Yes, at the last minute, and the bathroom door is locked.

As a child or teenager, I would have really appreciated having to wake up half an hour or even an hour earlier just to take a shower.

I don’t see any problem with having a second bathroom; you could even label them as women’s and men’s bathrooms :P provided the genders are evenly distributed. But I guess when it comes to the “test tube baby gender request,” you’d have to specify which gender you prefer XD

Exactly. As long as it doesn’t prevent you from designing one of the bathrooms without direct access from the hallway, it can be managed flexibly, adapting to any phase of life or even changing from day to day.

Besides, I believe that treating teenagers as a special case can be overdone. Their parents and grandparents didn’t get a separate planet during that phase either, yet they grew up without severe trauma.

For a household of five people, having two bathrooms is not a luxury.

My father had a washbasin in his room and had to break the ice during winter. My uncle didn’t even have a watertight roof and suffered from hunger. Those were different times.
