Hello everyone,
I’m new here and will introduce myself properly when I get the chance. Recently, we tore up part of the asphalt in our driveway and rebuilt the base because the driveway had a severe bump leading up to the sidewalk, and otherwise, I wouldn’t have been able to get out with my very low VW Beetle.
We did the base layer ourselves, using frost gravel and then a layer of mineral aggregate on top so that we could use the driveway again.
We have also already raised the manhole cover shown in the picture.
Now I have requested quotes from a few road construction companies for asphalt resurfacing. I received no feedback except from one company that visited to inspect the site in person. They then sent a quote charging 1800 euros for 2.5 hours of work including materials. The area to be asphalted measures 12m x 3m (39ft x 10ft).
I understand that the equipment and materials cost money, but isn’t this price a bit too high?
Has anyone had similar work done and can share price comparisons?

In my area, prices are similar... on top of that, you have labor costs, equipment costs, travel expenses, VAT, and so on... you can roughly calculate it yourself.
Check the local business directory; there are some small companies specializing in small-scale projects. Otherwise, just call various smaller civil engineering or excavation companies, as large firms usually don’t take on such small jobs.
