Hello everyone,
Yesterday we had our planning meeting with our plumber.
This was already the third appointment, and now in the final offer, suddenly there is a "pipe vent DN 70 for installation in pre-wall washbasin system" listed for 250€.
This is the first time we have heard of this; it has never been mentioned before.
Our question is: is this pipe vent really necessary at a cost of 250€? From what I’ve seen on Google, they usually cost around 50€, which is a huge difference.
Unfortunately, we have never heard of this kind of pipe vent before and have no idea if it was still required for buildings in 2017.

Thank you very much.

Best regards,

When using a vent alongside a window, I think of a connection to an automatic ventilation system (?)

I would definitely recommend this to you, otherwise the water in the downpipe will drain the trap dry and you’ll get an unpleasant odor in the bathroom.

If the plumber thinks that the minimum required roof ventilation will not be sufficient ...

You’re on the wrong track... these are two completely different issues...

@TE
If the plumber says it’s necessary... then you’ll probably have to bite the bullet... especially if you want a warranty on the entire system...

P.S. Usually, these units are available for well under 50 (currency)... you might try negotiating the price...

The venting through the roof is exactly what he will be missing; that’s the problem.

If that is no longer feasible, you will have to bite the bullet.
