ᐅ Which material is suitable for the garden fence of the first house?

This year, we plan to build our house, and since patience is not really our strong suit (okay, which I think is understandable, because we are fulfilling our lifelong dream), we have already talked today about the garden fence and, of course, the gate as well.

The fence should primarily be an eye-catcher in front of the house and also durable and low-maintenance. We are not worried about the costs... What matters is that the quality and value for money are right.

We appreciate any tips!

One wonders what’s so great about a wire basket filled with rubble, no matter the height.
Just saw it again today... terrible.

Dear Robson: 1) Everyone knows by now: You don’t like those things, the gabions. But I didn’t reply to you either.
2) There are probably many other people besides me who do like gabions filled with stones. Otherwise, they probably wouldn’t be sold.
3) There may also be regional differences in taste. When I think about how the view from the high-speed train in Hesse looks, I don’t like the local architectural style there overall.

I also like gabions, but I don’t find them very suitable as a front yard fence—more as a privacy screen. We are also considering what kind of fence to install in the front yard; it must be at least 1.20 m (4 feet) high, and no dog’s snout should be able to fit through. Maybe someone has a nice idea?

What is so unattractive about the Hessian building style? Construction here is quite “normal.”

Sabine

Sabine, the Hessian building style changes the topic completely. Just to say, it uses very few gabions....

What’s so ugly about the Hessian building style? Here, houses are built quite normally.

Hello Sabine,
Why not use a simple chain-link fence, which is then hidden by a hedge so it’s no longer visible?

Best regards, Yvonne

That is not possible throughout the front yard, as there will also be a large driveway gate and an entrance door.

Best regards
