Hello everyone,

We have just completed a new house and moved in four weeks ago. Now we have found mold in three corners of the house. The cause was a defective drain pipe beneath the bathtub. Water leaked onto the screed after every shower and spread throughout the house; it then traveled up the walls.

Now, three holes have been drilled into the screed through which air is being blown. Drying devices filter the moisture out of the air. These systems are planned to remain in place for three weeks.

My question is: After three weeks, will everything really be dry, or would it be better to remove all the tiles and the entire screed with the heating pipes? We want to avoid potential damage in 10 years or so.
Again, the house is newly built!

Thank you in advance.

More likely "or," even without any construction mishaps...

I still clearly remember a statement by Prof. Karl Gertis (at that time head of the Fraunhofer Institute for Building Physics) when he casually explained to over 600 construction experts that it usually takes around 4 years on average for a solid new building to reach an acceptable equilibrium moisture level.

Now, I don’t know what the construction company promised, but 3 weeks is hardly going to be enough...
