Hello everyone,

my aunt always says that she sprinkles used coffee grounds on her garden beds and that this supposedly helps against slugs.
Does anyone else know this trick or is it just wishful thinking?

I have heard that as well, but I don’t think snails are deterred by coffee grounds. They probably like that too.

This is definitely like using beer in the traps; it practically invites the slugs into the garden. It’s like an invitation to a coffee gathering.

I tried using beer once, and the drunks from all around showed up. I mean, you’re just attracting the slugs with that.. 🙁

A snail doesn't care how rough the surface it crawls on is. They can even move over razor blades without being harmed. So a little coffee certainly won't stop them.

See you then

Coarse sand is often recommended, but if you listen closely, you might hear the slugs laughing at the attempts to keep them away from the garden beds.

See you soon
