Hello everyone
I’m planning to build a wooden deck next spring and would like to have a continuous decking board all around the edge.
So, horizontal, basically flush with the deck surface. I’m not looking for an edge trim or cladding.
Now I’m looking for ideas for the substructure.
I just can’t find anything about that anywhere...

I’m grateful for any advice.

Wouldn’t it be simpler to just use a squared timber at the edge and additionally screw it to the cross beams? I might even double up the timbers at the edge for a larger bearing surface.

If it’s just about building something freestyle so that it holds, I feel confident doing that.
I just thought there was a specific way to design the structure.
The employee at the timber yard told me that you should make sure the supporting framework between the floorboards running in the main direction and those laid at a 90-degree angle is designed so that water cannot accumulate.
But that seems only possible if there are different supporting frameworks involved...
Or maybe I just can’t quite picture it.
