Until recently, I had no idea this was possible, but since I learned that wooden treads can be installed on a concrete staircase, I have become quite interested in this idea.
Specifically, it is about a concrete staircase with 14 steps, quarter-turn.
We definitely cannot do this ourselves.
What cost range would you estimate for this?

Knallkörper14 Nov 2017 17:07I also like it. For our half-turned staircase, an oak covering was estimated to cost 5,000 net. We decided on a 3cm (1.2 inch) granite covering instead. Work involved: 1 day for measuring, 1 day for creating templates, 1 day for adjusting templates, 14 days delivery time for the steps, 2 days for installation. Labor costs were just under 3,000 euros and materials cost 2,500 euros. I would never have wanted to do it myself – the largest steps weigh almost 100 kg (220 lbs).

Why not? For some people, straight staircases are the ultimate choice...?There are people who, as they get older, develop such a strong fear of straight staircases that they no longer want to go down them. These are fears that younger people might not understand. If the surface is also slippery, like tiles or wood without carpet runners, a fall is almost inevitable. I have a relative like that.
Apart from that, I have myself slipped down all 15 steps because my wide sweatpants leg got caught. When you’re older, you try to avoid that with solutions like an intermediate landing or a staircase turn, which can break a fall—or at least give you a chance to look down safely.
That aside, I also find Otus’s staircase very stylish.

In this regard, the “safest” option is straight staircases with two flights. Another simple way to reduce the risk of falls is to follow the common advice from doctors to stay well hydrated—this significantly lowers the chance of dizziness spells.https://www.instagram.com/11antgmxde/
