Good morning,

I live in an apartment with wooden windows. The wooden windows date back to 1994 and have only ONE rubber seal.
I have already adjusted the windows and increased the pressure against the window frame.
Unfortunately, I still feel that cold air is coming in, and the sound insulation (passing cars) is not optimal.

Now I am considering the following two options:
  • Buy Tesa Moll and apply it at the spots marked in red in the pictures.
  • Buy black acrylic sealant and instead of Tesa Moll, apply a neat bead of acrylic and wait for it to dry.

What do you think of these two options? What would you do?

My goal is to achieve better sealing and sound insulation.

Thank you in advance for hopefully many suggestions and advice.

@11ant is the window expert here. Perhaps he also has a tip for such a "simple" question?

I also own old windows (over 40 years), but unfortunately they are made of plastic. I was advised to replace the seals, which become brittle and lose their elasticity, causing them not to fit properly against the frame. This leads to noticeable and probably real air leaks.

I consider acrylic to be nonsensical: anything hard won’t seal properly – as you can see from the existing seals that have hardened. Tesamoll might work a bit better, but replacing the seals with new ones is the right solution.
