Hello everyone,

I had a lot of time to think last week while I was in the hospital, and a simple question came to mind:

What does an assumed lifespan of XX years mean for a prefabricated house?

Does the building become at risk of collapse or uninhabitable after that period, or are costly renovations required (which ones)?

I can’t really imagine much under this term in this context.

Thanks for your help

It is commonly stated in various house building forums when discussing the pros and cons of timber frame construction versus solid construction that the lifespan of “prefabricated houses” built with timber frames is often given as 30-40 years.

Therefore, the question is...

I’ve never seen that before either. But then my parents might soon have a problem (prefabricated house from 1979). ;-) Just kidding.
I believe that with proper care and maintenance, the house will outlast you as well.

My reply to your question (with a link) was deleted, likely because it did not comply with the rules... 😎

Sorry...
