ᐅ What does a well-designed wardrobe or entryway storage look like?

Hello everyone,

We have been living in our house for a few months now. However, the wardrobe area is still a makeshift puzzle. I would really like something custom here. We have plenty of space (approximately 2 meters (6.5 feet) wide and about 4.5 meters (15 feet) long), so many options are possible.

I would love to hear from you what you consider essential for a successful wardrobe area and what might have been a disappointment. Two adults and two toddlers.
Pictures and ideas, even somewhat unconventional ones, are very welcome 🙂

Thank you very much

Why does the living room door open outwards?
Because it is usually open most of the time anyway, so it rests against the wall instead of protruding into the room.

How about asking a carpenter what they would design...?
Because I am interested in the expertise of the forum.

About six years ago, I contacted several carpenters to get a quote for a shelf approximately 2m by 2m (6.5ft by 6.5ft) with staggered compartments.
The estimates ranged from 3,000 to 8,000.
Since then, I’ve been put off carpenters until either I win the lottery or get promoted to a 500,000-euro job.

You seem to live in an expensive area...
For that amount, we got a complete wall unit with drawers at the bottom and various other custom features.

It doesn’t really matter. Wall units are planned from wall to wall, ideally already during the house design phase. Here, I don’t see an alternative built-in closet, but rather an attractive piece of furniture added afterwards. If residents have an issue with that, there are space planners, basically interior designers, who specialize in these kinds of rooms. I think I’ve seen something like that, for example at Westwing.

I would just try googling "modern wardrobe furniture" and then look through the approximately 3 million images…. and decide next year 😉
