Wall construction for KfW 40 floor plan 49 cm (19 inches)? How would you have done it?
Hello, our energy consultant keeps telling us that the plaster (2.00 cm (0.8 inches)) is included in the mason’s wall thickness dimension (according to the floor plan 49 cm (19 inches))?

Because the exterior wall assembly would be
17.5cm (7 inches) aerated concrete, 10cm (4 inches) plus 8cm (3 inches) insulation, 2cm (1 inch) air gap, and 11.5cm (5 inches) brick veneer, but that would total 51cm (20 inches) and the architect said that doesn’t fit because the drawing shows 49cm (19 inches). He said we would have to redesign the entire floor plan with exterior walls at 51cm (20 inches).

If you build the wall assembly you mentioned, the wall will end up being 51cm (20 inches) thick. That is correct, because your list does not include the interior plaster. This is entirely normal and the case in all construction plans.

I just don’t understand the overall situation. The architect draws (as always) using structural dimensions, so why is there an issue? Drawings are always made with structural dimensions. Is he actually a qualified architect?

Even if it is shown perfectly in the plan, you will be surprised during the actual shell construction that it does not fit down to the centimeter (inch).
