We received approval for our plot today :-)!

I've been thinking about house types, floor plans, and so on for weeks. I thought it might be helpful to visit a show home village. Simply to get ideas and inspiration, and to find out what we like and don’t like. We don’t want to build a display or prefab house; I just thought visiting could spark some ideas.

Now I’ve looked for show home villages in NRW, and there aren’t many. Is it worth visiting a place with about 20 houses? What benefit does it bring if we’re not specifically interested in the suppliers? Would that just be a waste of time, and would it be better to keep searching online for floor plans and eventually get some nice drawings done by an architect?

How did you gather information and plan your build?
Looking forward to your input!

We have been to Poing several times, and it was very helpful for us. With an appointment, as mentioned before, it no longer costs anything, and there are an incredible number of houses there.
I find it hard to consciously go into and look at all of them.
For us, there were many ideas that were later discussed and possibly planned, or we had to check if they fit into the budget.
In general, the park is relatively new. Maybe the admission fee is actually an advantage.

So, we were in Wuppertal yesterday. Overall, it was really good. However, I admit that after house number 6, there was an overload of thoughts, ideas, and stimuli. At first, you still paid attention to details, but in the end, it was just the overall impression of everything you saw. I think that’s quite normal. In any case, we definitely want to go again and prepare a list of specific things to look for in detail beforehand.

Regarding the sellers, I can only say one thing... they were there. Of course, they want to sell, but it wasn’t hectic at all. All in all, it was a successful day that we will repeat before construction starts.

Best regards
