We received approval for our plot today :-)!
I've been thinking about house types, floor plans, and so on for weeks. I thought it might be helpful to visit a show home village. Simply to get ideas and inspiration, and to find out what we like and don’t like. We don’t want to build a display or prefab house; I just thought visiting could spark some ideas.
Now I’ve looked for show home villages in NRW, and there aren’t many. Is it worth visiting a place with about 20 houses? What benefit does it bring if we’re not specifically interested in the suppliers? Would that just be a waste of time, and would it be better to keep searching online for floor plans and eventually get some nice drawings done by an architect?
How did you gather information and plan your build?
Looking forward to your input!

Better to pay more than end up in a model home park that has aged and where half of the show homes have long since been sold to residents.
The model home park in Stelle near Hamburg currently has only about five houses left to visit out of the original 15 from the 1980s. One architectural style from the 80s that still looks very modern (shed roof) was available to view, but unfortunately, a company renting one of the houses had no connection to the original builder and their style was completely different, focusing on Frisian and country houses :p That’s what happens when you live in the same town as the model home park but haven’t been involved with home building for years 😉

You could still view an interesting architectural style from the 80s that remains very modern (shed roof), but unfortunately, a construction company unrelated to the original builder was renting one of the houses there. Their style, with traditional Frisian and country houses, is worlds apart from the original design :p This is what happens when you live in the same town as the model home park but haven’t been involved in house building for years 😉 Calling it the Stelle Model Home Park is a major misnomer. What a waste of time. Frustrated, we just drove back to Bad Fallingbostel. :O The ultimate irony would be having to pay admission to visit in Stelle. 😀 Hopefully no one who owns a "model home" in Stelle sees this.
