ᐅ Robot vacuum, handheld vacuum, vacuum-and-mop function — what are your thoughts?

Good morning everyone,

Since I could no longer find the robot vacuum thread using the search function, I have now started this new thread.

Currently, we still have an AEG upright vacuum cleaner, but I’m a bit annoyed by its suction power and the way the vacuum head drags behind when moving. My wife remembers the old dark green Vorwerk handheld vacuums from her parents’ house, on which I even used to ride along as a small child.

Last weekend, we visited the consumer fair in Nuremberg, where we gathered a lot of information about houses and construction, and we couldn’t avoid stopping by the Vorwerk booth as well.

In the mentioned robot vacuum thread, the Vorwerk vacuum and mop combo handheld was already discussed, so I based my research on that.

We were able to test the vacuum thoroughly and were quite impressed with the vacuum and mop function. One drawback we noticed is that the complete unit feels a bit heavy when lifting it, for example, onto stairs. Otherwise, the device easily glides across the floor.
Also, the filter system might be a downside for us, as expensive replacement filters can be a significant ongoing cost.

My question to you: does anyone have experience with the Kobold VK200 vacuum and mop model or maybe other comparable models and can share experience over several weeks or months?

Regards,
Andreas

We have the Tiger, which is the tool for cleaning behind furniture, and its bags are that size. The handheld device has smaller bags.

However, mopping is quite a logistical challenge because you basically always work backwards and your vacuum cleaner is always in the way.

Next time, I would probably choose the handheld device, although the Tiger with the upholstery brush for the couch is brilliant because of the long hose.

Both options have their advantages as well as disadvantages.

Yes, that makes sense.

How did you purchase it? Did a sales representative come to you, or how did that work? I have also been looking for nearly new devices being sold nearby.

Best regards

A colleague sells for TM in her "spare time," so we were already familiar with Vorwerk’s business model.

We bought through a representative who was standing in the entrance area of an Edeka supermarket.

We had planned to look into robots and vacuum mops anyway, and since he was there, I gave him my card and asked him to call me. Then the usual process followed... a visit, demonstrations of the devices, trying them out, sleeping on it for a few nights, and then making the purchase.

The process was less driven by the representative (although he maintained a good balance between consulting and selling).

What I appreciated very much was that he actually discouraged us from buying the robot vacuum (even though we wanted it). Quote: “I won’t sell you anything that I know won’t make you happy. With cats and small children, the robot vacuum isn’t suitable.”

Alternative: online shop
On Saturdays, you can have peace without the salesperson fuss.

We recently got the Deebot Slim, and so far I’m pleasantly surprised. For €170, it’s definitely a good deal.

I also have a Roomba 620 (for about 2 years now), and the Deebot is noticeably slimmer and quieter. It also comes with a microfiber cloth that can be dampened and hung on. This is only practical for small rooms since it dries fairly quickly. But it does make a difference, as you can see in the attached picture. It also has a remote control.
