we recently bought a house. In one of the bathrooms, next to the bathtub faucets, there is a kind of "overflow" from which a small amount of water leaks whenever the bathtub is being filled. When the faucet is set so that the water comes from the shower head, no water comes out of this "pipe." I’ve never seen anything like this before.
I removed the cover and took a photo inside the opening. Can someone tell me what this is? I've never seen anything like it. To make matters worse, it seems water always seeps behind the tiles, as the water dripping from this drain pipe is slowly running there. The bathtub hadn’t been used for many years.
Can anyone help me understand what this is? Is it some kind of vent? I'm at a loss!
See the pictures!
Thanks in advance for your help.
