My name is Achim, I am 40 years old and live with my wife and children in the house we are currently extending and renovating. To be able to use the additional living space soon, I have a question I would like to ask you. I registered here directly because I have already found a lot of interesting information about house construction while browsing the forum.
In the extension, a living area with kitchen of 65m² (700 sq ft), tiles were laid until 9 days ago. The temperatures have dropped from around 14°C (57°F) at the beginning to currently 7°C (45°F). We planned to start using the underfloor heating system from January 11.
I am now unsure whether the drying time for the tile adhesive and grout will be sufficient at these temperatures. The temperature might also drop further, as it has not stabilized yet.
Should I heat the extension electrically? What temperature should I maintain in the room?
Right now, I have turned on a 2000W heater, but I worry that it might just dissipate uselessly... Alternatively, I could use fans, but they seem less suitable for maintaining a base temperature. Should I place one or several heaters? Is there a general wattage recommendation for a 65m² (700 sq ft) room?
Thanks for your advice!
Best regards,
Achim
