Hello everyone,

Since this is my first post in this forum, I would like to briefly introduce myself. My name is Alex, I am 29 years old, and my wife, my 17-month-old daughter, and I are currently planning to build a new single-family house.

We have been living since 2010 with my parents-in-law and brother-in-law in a multi-generational house (3 households) and for various reasons we urgently want to move out and start our own project... 🙂

In our village, a local residents’ scheme is currently being developed, and fortunately, we now have the opportunity to choose one of the five remaining plots of land. However, we are still unsure which one to pick. The problem is that we only have a short period to decide, as we don’t want or can’t keep the families ranked behind us waiting.

For this reason, I would be interested in your assessment. I will not reveal our preferred plots to avoid bias.

Plot 1: 517 m² (5570 sq ft)
Plot 2: 414 m² (4455 sq ft)
Plot 3: 527 m² (5675 sq ft)
Plot 4: 508 m² (5470 sq ft)
Plot 5: 501 m² (5395 sq ft)

I look forward to a lively exchange of opinions 🙂

Best regards

Alex

P.S. In case it matters, we plan to build a single-family house with about 140 - 150 m² (1500 - 1615 sq ft) of living space, plus a double garage, and possibly a basement.

No. 3

No. 1 has the street on two sides!
No. 2 is very small and also has a risk of mosquitoes.
No. 3 has the optimal orientation.
No. 4 and No. 5 are also okay if you don't want to build a south-facing terrace.

Thank you all for your impressions and opinions!

According to the development plan, it is allowed to rotate the ridge beam by 90 degrees, so I could also build a nice south/west-facing terrace on plots 4 and 5. However, in that case, the street would be to the south instead of the park/playground.

Currently, we are fourth in line, meaning three families are ahead of us, and then we can choose from the remaining lots.

I’m hoping that plots 2, 3, or 5 will still be available... 🙂

Best regards,
Alex

So you still have a choice after all 😉

Good luck with that

We have now received the long-awaited call from the local council.

We can choose between plots 1 and 5.

What do you think?

I would choose number 5, as it has less road exposure and greenery at the back 😉

That would be my choice as well
