We have a Danfoss Airunit W2 ventilation system with a heat exchanger (I believe).
Currently, I have an Eve smart plug connected to monitor the power consumption of the system. Using IFTTT on my smartphone, I could, just for fun, turn off the ventilation for about 2 hours during periods of high electricity prices (our electricity rates change hourly).
Would a sudden shut-off harm the Danfoss system, or is this a reasonable idea? 🙂

I think setting it to the lowest level is enough.
If you really want to save, heating devices are the first thing to look at among "high-energy appliances,"
for example, washing machine, dishwasher, sauna, oven, cooktop, coffee maker,
and hot water heating if you have a heat pump.

Yes, just set it to the lowest level. Constant switching causes more wear on the electronics and possibly the drive system.
Additionally, when it is completely stopped, you have the problem of condensation in the ventilation ducts (--> mold).
So keep it running (even when absent).
