Hello,

we are currently installing a swimming pond. Although the water edge is quite shallow, I am starting to worry about my little one. However, I do not want to put a fence around the pond. Do you have any ideas on how I could secure the pond?

Every pond poses a risk to small children. I survived it myself, but parents need to be extra vigilant. This means no unsupervised play in the garden. Never.

Otherwise, a fence is necessary; I don’t see any other options.

Well, neighborhood kids climb over the fence and fall in, and then you are held responsible; incidents like this have happened before. Not to mention your own children—there will inevitably be moments when parents are not paying close attention.

A really nice option is an automatic wooden cover, if you can imagine something like that underneath.

You can also install a fixed metal grid just above the water surface. However, that is not exactly aesthetically pleasing ...

The grid can also be installed just below the water surface; it is barely noticeable then. Another option is to build "slopes" in the shoreline area that extend into the water; if someone falls in, these will "catch" or hold them.

But with the grid, it’s no longer a natural swimming pond either. ;-)
