Hello everyone,
I want to shorten a 60x60x200 cm (24x24x79 inches) Metod tall cabinet to a width of 57 cm (22.4 inches). It will also get a 40 cm (15.7 inches) high extension on top, which should be shortened in width as well.
The reason...
I have a niche in the hallway that is 57 cm (22.4 inches) wide and 60 cm (24 inches) deep, and I want to use this cabinet as a cleaning cupboard and for collecting waste paper.
So far, I have thought everything through; shortening itself is not a problem. The shelves are okay as well.
The fronts can remain 60 cm (24 inches) wide so they will sit flush against the wall.
Now to the problem:
Has anyone ever shortened the width of Maximera drawers? They have this metal plate at the back that locks into the two side panels. Is the Maximera stable enough if I leave this out and join the parts with wood instead?
Best regards,
robi_aus_ffm

IKEA-Experte3 Jun 2016 13:58That was a real bargain, and it was on a Friday as well. The only difference I could find is the additional brackets that ensure the hose holder doesn’t pop out when you remove the hose.

IKEA-Experte6 Jul 2016 17:29The picture is from last night. The annoying thing is that in Frankfurt, they always unpack the fronts.
