Hello everyone,

I’m from the beautiful Thuringia region, and we heat our apartment with oil. Recently, they handed out flyers from OilFox (.io) in our pedestrian zone. They also have a YouTube video—just search for OilFox.
It is a device that attaches to your oil tank and measures the oil level. When the tank is empty and the oil price is low, you can order more oil through the app. According to their website, this can save you up to 700 euros.

My question: is there anything similar already available? I haven’t found any comparable products online so far, although this one seems quite developed.

Best regards,

Well, they are just as not worthwhile... the manufacturers of electricity meters are not stupid... especially in Germany...

There are models where that still works – but those are mostly older units.

I just mean, even if I save much less than stated, the OilFox is still worth it for me. It may be true that @nordanney measures his oil level daily and compares prices on various websites every week. I don’t, at least if I can avoid it.
But hey, everyone can decide for themselves. I’ll definitely give the device a try.
Once the OilFox is available, I can report back about it too.

There is a power app available for hourly switching between electricity providers.

Hello Squirrel

I think you don’t quite understand what we’re trying to tell you, or you don’t want to / can’t understand it.

The thing is worthless
if the money spent on the purchase costs is burned in the stove, that makes even less sense than the purchase itself

Oh, by the way...............

I still have a canister of a very special kind of water.
When used with heating oil, it saves about 5 liters (1.3 gallons), sometimes up to 100%.
However, the house does get a bit cooler, but only slightly, and only when the outside temperature doesn’t drop below a certain level. I would offer it for around 800 €.

I am still working on the gas version, so you will have to pay a bit more.
So far, I have always used it with a garden sprayer, and it definitely works.
