ᐅ Room Thermostat Uponor T-35 versus "Smart Home Thermostat"

Dear community,

I have a question regarding my room thermostat, which I would like to replace with a "smart version" (controllable via an app).

Currently, I have the Uponor T-35 as my room thermostat (actually three of them – living room, bedroom, bathroom). I would like to replace it, at least the one in the living room, with a (smart) thermostat, for example, an Ecobee thermostat.

Since I have no knowledge of this myself (I am a lawyer 😉), I obviously won’t attempt the replacement on my own. I only want to find out whether the replacement is possible and what I would need for it. In other words: I would order the necessary parts and then have an expert install them.

Could someone please briefly explain if the replacement is possible and ideally name the required components?

Is this about underfloor heating?

Hi, yes, that's absolutely correct – it’s about underfloor heating!

What do you need these for, is it an old building? Normally, you just have to switch two cables, or am I misunderstanding something?

In new constructions, these things are basically useless and always out of order.

Since you’ll need to hire a professional anyway, have them bring the necessary equipment. This way, it will be easier to find and hire the right person, as they will be more familiar with the materials and components they install, rather than using something provided by the customer.

With underfloor heating, the temperature is usually not adjusted because it responds slowly. Therefore, in my opinion, a smart control system does not make sense.
