ᐅ Retrofit Insulation for a Semi-Detached House

Hello everyone,

My wife and I have bought a semi-detached house that we are currently renovating. So far, everything is going really well.

During the renovation, we noticed that we can hear the neighbors on the other side of the semi-detached house quite loudly in our living room.

Is it possible to add effective sound insulation to the shared wall afterwards?

Rather no... In the past, semi-detached houses were not properly decoupled... Shared foundation slab, a common wall... This leads to good sound transmission.

However, it's hard to say anything at a distance. You should get an expert to identify the weak points... Maybe it’s not even the partition wall but something else, who knows...
