Hello,
here’s a somewhat "unusual" topic. How did you manage to fundamentally decide between an apartment (condominium) or a house for yourselves? And in the end, how did you manage to put your name on the loan agreement for a construction project, where you are basically always an amateur but financially have to compete at the highest level? I have been following for a long time, and good offers come and go. I just can’t seem to overcome the feeling of uncertainty. Am I the only one struggling with this?

That wouldn’t be my style, but it’s probably the only option in high-demand areas. You would only back out if the property is actually a wreck. In that case, you’re dealing with unscrupulous sellers who oversell everything in the listing and deserve no better.
We’re talking about an investment of several hundred thousand euros. At that point, it’s reasonable to pull the emergency brake.
Fear of buying a property is one thing, but fear of holding on to it is another.
I have been a property owner since I was 25 years old, and I always pay my monthly installments on time. However, a new fear has developed—the fear of not being able to keep the property.
Whether it’s the economic crisis or the fear of falling ill, I am now considering insuring my income. I have a well-paid job, but illness is unfortunately common at my age.
How have you secured yourselves?

@tomtom79 I have a disability insurance, as I’m a “high earner”, and also a term life insurance, both my wife and I. They cover the major risks, and in the worst case, the house would be paid off and/or the family well taken care of, meaning I could provide well for the child.
But please, let’s not turn this thread into a discussion about disability insurance – that would be appreciated.

A very solid mindset, but back in 2020, you would have had no chance buying a house like that, at least not a prime property.
In general, I can only recommend insecure people not to involve too many others in their plans, but to trust their own gut feeling. That was a mistake we made. We gathered half a dozen opinions ranging from "Go for it, you won’t find better!" to "Are you crazy? Absolutely not!" Great help in making a decision... :-/ Works better than 10 cups of espresso to stay awake at night.I recognize what you’re describing. Since I’m a repeat offender, such statements don’t surprise me much but rather show me that I’m probably doing it right – FOR ME.
Financially, I’ve become more old-fashioned over time; it used to be different. But in terms of design, I do exactly what suits me and what’s possible. Many people tell me they wouldn’t do this at my age anymore. My answer is always the same: You don’t have to if it doesn’t suit you. We’re looking forward to it, and it’s a lot of fun to plan, choose, and make changes...
Whether I would be out of luck, I’m not so sure. I always search very thoroughly and make decisions on site if needed because I know my parameters and finances beforehand.
Because we want something quite unique, it was practically impossible to find on the resale market; otherwise, we would have jumped on it immediately. So this is how it will be...
