Hello,
I have a question. Last year, we bought a semi-detached house, a prefabricated wooden house built in 2000. The gable of the roof, in particular, has already been exposed to quite a bit; the paint is almost completely gone, and you can see gray-black streaks.

Is this a problem? The beams supporting the gable show small cracks with black edges.

Is the structural strength of the wood still guaranteed without weather protection, or should I be concerned now?

What should be considered when repainting with weather-resistant paint?

How much does it typically cost to cover both gables? Are there any estimates?
I don’t know the wood type; it could be pine or larch.

That remains to be seen.

Well, I hope it’s not too bad, it rained heavily here last night as well.

Quick question: I’m basically thinking about properly sanding, applying a wood glaze, and then a weather-resistant paint – that should work, right?

What would replacing the beam cost, or are there other options?
Also, regarding the rafters, what can I do there?
Would €4000 be enough for a renovation with metal flashing installed afterward?

You, I am not a carpenter. Just asking.

Adding an aluminum drip edge, a so-called parapet, to a garage roof cost 850 (with tax) in Schleswig-Holstein. That was two skilled workers for half a morning plus materials. Without scaffolding, just a prefabricated garage. 6 by 3 meters (20 by 10 feet).

Okay, yes, I have no idea about the price for something like that.
