ᐅ Is a photovoltaic system with storage and additional solar panels mandatory?

We have planned a 10 kWp photovoltaic system with a 4.6 kWp battery storage as a home power solution for an air-to-water heat pump.

Additionally, the consultant offered us a solar system that, according to the Energy Saving Ordinance, would be mandatory for a 40+ house. When we asked if this was correct, we were referred to a specialist for further review, whom we will only meet after signing the contract. This photovoltaic system costs around 3,500 € and we would simply like to exclude it.

Is the consultant’s statement correct that this is mandatory? If not, then it should not be a problem to leave it out.

He means solar thermal energy.

That statement is nonsense.
A KfW Efficiency House 40 Plus meets the requirements of a KfW Efficiency House 40 and includes the following additional package:
• A power-generating system based on renewable energy
• A stationary battery storage system (electricity storage)
• A ventilation system with heat recovery
• A visualization of power generation and power consumption via an appropriate user interface

I would reconsider the KfW option. I just noticed that the loan conditions have worsened again. Even the repayment bonus no longer really helps to make up for it.

Hello,

I have had the KfW loan for a long time, but there is no mention anywhere that solar thermal systems for domestic hot water or a battery storage system are required. So, in my opinion, it should be sufficient to install just the battery storage system, right?

It says that there must be a renewable proportion present... no more and no less...

... and what does that mean? That I either store electricity or use geothermal energy for domestic hot water. Right?

I already have the KfW loan, but there is nothing stated that solar thermal systems for domestic hot water heating and a power storage system are required. So, in my opinion, it should be sufficient to just install the power storage system, right?

That’s correct.

However, review the regulations regarding the capacity of the power storage system carefully. Its size depends on the dimensioning of the photovoltaic system as well as the living area. You don’t want to miscalculate that.

For all of this, you also have the energy consultant, who will advise you on what is correct and what is not.

You don’t need to worry about the renewable energy share if you are aiming for KfW 40+ standard, because then controlled ventilation with heat recovery is mandatory, and the renewable requirement is fulfilled through that.

All of these questions are also answered by the well-compensated, KfW-accredited energy consultant 🙂

The attic is also economically impractical, but if you want something like that, you can of course do it.
