Hello,
we want to have a walkway paved in our garden leading to the garden shed, so you don’t have to walk across the lawn to get there.
The walkway should be placed directly next to the fence, which is 1.80m (5 ft 11 in) high.
What is a good width for the walkway to allow comfortable walking?

WilderSueden18 Mar 2024 12:03It depends on what you want to do there. We chose 8 bricks (clinker NF), so just under 1 meter (3 feet) for the path from the driveway to the house and will extend it this spring in width towards the garden shed. That’s plenty wide for a wheelbarrow; a single-seat bike trailer is almost that wide, and a two-seater is definitely too wide. You’ll need a bit more width for curves.
For a simple footpath, though, 40 cm (16 inches) is sufficient.

The garden shed is located directly on the property boundary at the fence, and the pathway will be extended from the terrace to the garden shed.
My question is which width would be optimal.
The pathway should also serve as an edge for mowing since the robotic mower would otherwise have trouble mowing right next to the fence.
We have a welded wire mesh fence with privacy strips, which creates constant shade directly at the fence during winter.
