Hello,
New windows were installed at my place last week. On the outside, there is compressible sealing tape, and on the inside, a vapor barrier film. In between is foam, which forms the middle layer. The foam is continuous, but there are significant gaps between the inner film and the foam. Is this acceptable? As far as I know, this is not correct. I thought that usually a bit too much foam is applied and then trimmed flush with the frame. Because of the many and sometimes deep gaps, it is now difficult for me to insulate the reveal with drywall panels... Another issue is that the film was already attached. I noticed this during installation, but I was told that the gaps are fine. Then the film was glued in place. Attached are some photos.
Second question: In the area where the windowsill will be installed later, there is no film. Is this correct?
I have informed the contractor and am waiting for their response. If this installation is not done properly, how can it be corrected?
