Hello everyone,

we are building a turnkey solid house, stone by stone. We contracted the electrical work ourselves. Our site manager has now given us the documents for the grid connection and advised us to submit them immediately.

The shell construction company is applying for the temporary construction power.

However, our electrician now says he wants to apply for the grid connection only after the foundation slab is laid. He does not think it makes sense to do it earlier.

We are a bit uncertain now. Who is correct? Do we really need to apply for the grid connection so urgently now, or can it wait? Are there any consequences if the shell construction company applies for the temporary construction power but we have not yet submitted the grid connection application?

Actually, you need to apply for all utilities as soon as possible. It can sometimes take months until everything is finally approved and all connections are in place or installed in/at the house.

My electrical pedestal was installed before the excavator arrived for the foundation work, and that was definitely the right approach.
