I want to heat our home using an air source heat pump (air source heat pump). The model recommended by the energy consultant is said to have a noise level of 60 dB. It is going to be installed in the sleeping and living area. I don't have a concrete idea of what 60 dB means, but it seems relatively loud to me. I’m worried that the noise from the air source heat pump will negatively affect our quality of life, and I wonder how the neighbors will react to it. What is your opinion on 60 dB? What noise level does your air source heat pump have?

"Noise" is relative, so here are some reference values: 60 dB is roughly equivalent to a radio playing at room volume or a normal conversation; a vacuum cleaner operates at around 70 dB, and a dishwasher at 42 dB. Physical discomfort from noise begins at around 40–45 dB.
I haven’t heard of anyone installing a heat pump in a bedroom or living area; better locations are usually in the basement or a ground-level basement replacement room.
