Hello everyone,

Our previous tenant left us a folding arm awning in "excellent condition."

From a first (layman’s) assessment, the basic structure is okay. The awning can be extended and retracted and feels stable even when fully extended.

I am considering simply replacing the awning fabric. With some rust removal and basic cleaning, the awning should then perform as expected.

Problem 1: Tension cable broken in one of the two folding arms
Is it possible to replace this? As far as I can tell, the tension cable is hooked onto a latch and then secured with an adjustment screw? That should be easy to fix, right, or am I mistaken?

Problem 2: Slight misalignment
The awning does not extend straight but is about 20-30cm (8-12 inches) crooked. I assume this is related to the broken tension cable.

What do you think? Repairable or total loss?

Here are some details and pictures:

Depth: 2.62m (8 feet 7 inches)
