Hello everyone,

Our shell is already halfway built, and since our budget still allows it, I’m considering installing a solar panel system on the roof. The problem is that it’s a single-pitch roof with a 16° (16-degree) slope facing north.

Additionally, we have a heat pump with underfloor heating in a KfW 70 single-family house.

Is it worth it under these conditions?

Best regards

No, it’s not worth it...

Same here with us. The solar system is mounted facing directly south. It doesn’t look very appealing, but the original owner probably did it that way to meet KfW70 standards...

How about a photovoltaic system? Is a high self-consumption rate possible? If needed, it can be cost-effectively financed through the KfW.

Although the feed-in tariff itself is low (hence the question about self-consumption – also considering your heat pump), the prices for photovoltaic systems have dropped significantly.

In any case, we have decided to go with a photovoltaic system.

It is also not worth it due to the north-facing orientation.

It probably won’t be worthwhile at all unless you build a raised substructure.

But maybe there is a garage or an extension. For solar thermal support—not photovoltaic—it might be enough for a single-family house in a good location.
