ᐅ How much does a good new heat pump typically cost? Looking for experiences and insights!

Hi everyone, we are currently planning our housebuild quite intensively, and when it comes to choosing a heating system, we are considering using a heat pump. We have heard from friends that, in the long run, it can be more cost-effective because heating costs are reduced. However, these friends do not have one themselves yet; they are just thinking about it. What is your opinion on this? What should we consider? Would you recommend it? We are also thinking of getting advice soon from Vaillant, as they apparently have pretty good customer service. In general, I would appreciate any tips on this topic. Thanks in advance!

That’s nonsense. With just two or three clicks, your heat pump can easily operate at 35°C (95°F). And the hotter the heat generator runs, the more frequently it has to cycle on and off. So the heat pump will definitely cycle the least.
And the thermal inertia of the underfloor heating has nothing to do with this.

If 21°C (70°F) feels too cold for you, I recommend setting it to 22°C or 23°C (72°F or 73°F). That should help. ;-)

Of course, the heat pump can also run at 65°C (149°F) 😀 but then the electricity consumption rises exponentially. With gas, this increase is more linear.

Really? Amazing! I’m speechless!

@trx_type I apologize for only getting back to you now. I hope you have already attended the appointment. If so, how did it go, and did you decide to go with a heat pump? Of course, it’s also a matter of personal preference.

@everyone else: I am not a fan of fossil fuels. Gradually, and over the next few decades, their sale will be banned, and if I interpret media reports correctly, new restrictions could come even sooner. Pellets don’t fall into the same category, but they are not necessarily environmentally friendly either. But as I said, everyone should choose what suits them best. Regarding electricity demand, if the conditions are appropriate (the house must be situated accordingly), a photovoltaic system could be worth considering.

@cip&ciop No problem and thanks for asking. In the meantime, we have actually decided on a model. We are able to have a borehole drilled, so we will be installing a ground source heat pump along with a photovoltaic system in our house. I believe this is the best solution for us. The appointment with Vaillant went well; they took the time to address our concerns, answered all our questions, and on site we were able to view models in the showroom. For us, this works now, and the investment will pay off over time.

But the selection isn’t based on appearance, right?
