Do you think that a width of 50 cm (20 inches) would be too unstable, or should I maybe use four brackets instead of just two (the first option would look better)? What are your experiences, if any?

Hello schrauberine
The Capita bracket is very sturdy, but it depends on the length of the board. For `"table dancing" I would actually use 4 legs (just kidding).
Now, my real opinion: from 140cm (55 inches) onwards, I would consider using a third bracket, or a fourth if it’s even longer.
Best regards,
