Hello everyone!

We are currently installing our Bobdyn kitchen. Among other things, there is a kitchen island. It is 2.00 m (6 ft 7 in) long and just under 1.00 m (3 ft 3 in) deep and stands on tiles with underfloor heating. Therefore, it is not possible to anchor it to the floor.

We purchased these black Metod plastic legs that are simply snapped on.

My question is, can I replace these with these Capita legs?

Thanks and best regards

Thomas

Hello, you can. Why wouldn't that be possible?

Hello, because these black plastic feet are only loosely inserted and are not really stable. Since we cannot anchor the island to the floor, I am looking for feet that can be screwed in.

Once all the cabinets are screwed together, they will also stand firmly on the METOD legs. Simply build the island on the METOD legs, and if it seems too wobbly, screw a few CAPITA legs underneath or just use extra CAPITA legs from the start. The base area is much smaller with CAPITA, so the pressure on the floor is higher.

Ok, I could also include the Capita supports. And I will attach the plastic feet using construction adhesive.

Do you think the self-weight is sufficient to keep the island stable?

I believe it’s fine as long as you don’t pull out the deep drawers fully loaded at the same time while having the shorter ones unloaded, drive a car around inside the house, or do other foolish things.
Of course, you can also build a wooden frame construction that you fix to the floor with silicone and attach the cabinets on top of it.
