Appel20006 Apr 2020 22:20Hello everyone,
In our new house (currently in the shell construction phase), we have also planned for a fireplace.
The chimney has a fresh air intake (Schiedel Absolut), which we would like to use for our "desired fireplace" as well.
Even though the fireplace will be installed later, we want to lay the fresh air supply today at the future location, into the floor (into the screed). This seems to work reasonably well with flat ducts.
Now to my problem, see the picture:
Route 1 would be the direct way, with only one "bend," but the connection would have to be made on the "short" side of the fresh air duct. I don’t know how that would work...
Route 2 would be the longer way, with two "bends," but I can connect to the "wide" side, where I expect significantly more air to flow.
Explanation of the image:
- red box = fireplace
- X = center, where the fresh air must go
- fresh air duct = short side 10cm (5 inches), long side 23cm (9 inches) (according to information found online)
Do you have any ideas?
What would be your solution?

Hello,
There are adapters available to connect supply and exhaust air to each other.
Search for
Schiedel Absolut LAS supply air adapter connection longitudinal side/end side
Have this installed as well.
We have it the same way: supply air at the bottom and exhaust air at the top.
If you know the distances, give them directly to the person building your chimney.
Regards

Problem: The chimney is already in place, and the ground floor is already completed.
Does anyone else have any ideas?
