Hello,
we had a chimney built into our house in case we wanted a fireplace later. By now, I have to say that I actually don’t want a fireplace anymore. My husband is also undecided about it. Now I’ve been thinking about what else it could be used for.
My kitchen is directly next to it. Could I connect the kitchen exhaust hood to it? Or would there be whistling noises in the kitchen? I also thought about setting up a small indoor greenhouse with ventilation inside the house. That way, we’d have fresh tomatoes in winter.

Does anyone else have any ideas?

Is and remains the access for Santa Claus. Therefore, just leave it as is ...

I’m not a professional, but I would say that the distance is too long for a range hood.

What kind of "chimney" is it exactly? Actually made of brick? A pipe? What size?

A few ideas depending on where it passes and how far it goes (basement?) and not entirely serious:

- Laundry chute?
- Cable duct (in our renovation, a conduit was used for solar thermal system pipes) in case something needs to be retrofitted later.
- Dumbwaiter, if you ever want to enjoy a roast in the upper floor
- Daylight spot
- Depending on ventilation and climate → cheese or ham curing?

...

I’m sure I’ll come up with some more ideas

-Cable conduit for photovoltaic system from the roof to the basement.
-Disposal option for flatulence (hatch in the living room, so you don’t have to go outside to the terrace during winter)
-Discreet exhaust system for filtered fumes from the cannabis grow operation in the basement

Peace!

Unfortunately, we don’t have a basement...
