Good evening!

In our previous house, we had the toilet model "Ideal Standard Connect," specifically the rimless version. Visually, I really liked this model. However, we sometimes had the issue that it splashed water during flushing. So, you had to carefully close the lid before flushing, otherwise water would occasionally spray onto the floor. It wasn’t a major problem, but now I’m wondering whether we should choose the same toilet for the new house or look for a different one.

Is this issue specific to the model we chose, or do all rimless toilets have this problem? Do you have any recommendations for alternative models?

Our budget model from Vigour doesn’t have that feature, so nothing splashes over. But that is also their second cheapest model (Clivia), because I don’t really like these modern toilets. Closing the lid before flushing is really annoying with today’s toilet seats that have soft-close mechanisms, isn’t it?

My wife believes that you always have to close the lid beforehand, otherwise everything will splash out and the toilet will probably explode – or something like that.

We have a bowl from Globo. Nothing splashes out there. But the stuff is really expensive.

Duravit Durastyle also works without any problems. However, I had heard and read a lot about it back then...

Yes, it is. You get used to it, but eventually you end up just pushing the lid down manually because you don’t want to stand there waiting.

Are you talking about splashback? I guess it depends on the models.
There is also the toilet we had with "AquaBlade" technology. Does anyone have this installed? Does it really make a difference, or is it just marketing hype?

And then the toilet water always splashes nicely onto the seat. That’s really unpleasant.
Or is that the built-in bidet function?
