ᐅ Ideal Standard Connect / Rimless Toilet Alternative?

Good evening!

In our previous house, we had the toilet model "Ideal Standard Connect," specifically the rimless version. Visually, I really liked this model. However, we sometimes had the issue that it splashed water during flushing. So, you had to carefully close the lid before flushing, otherwise water would occasionally spray onto the floor. It wasn’t a major problem, but now I’m wondering whether we should choose the same toilet for the new house or look for a different one.

Is this issue specific to the model we chose, or do all rimless toilets have this problem? Do you have any recommendations for alternative models?

I’d like to suggest the "Subway 2.0 rimless low-level flush toilet" from V & B. It has been supplied with water from a household water system or cistern for a year now, with no added chemicals (I dislike those), and it’s still clean. Comfortable, no splashing, and I find it "elegant."

That was also our alternative, but I don’t exactly remember what bothered us about it. At least from the photos, you can see the "stub" on the underside, which is less pronounced on the Ideal Standard model. That was probably the reason we ruled out Villeroy & Boch.

At least in the photos, you can see the “stub” on the underside, which isn’t as pronounced on the Ideal Standard model. That was probably the reason we ruled out the Villeroy & Boch.

Since I rarely crawl under the toilet, it wasn’t a deal breaker for me 😀

Depending on the installation location and the "angle of view," the stub either appeared visible or required crawling under the toilet 🙂

I just tried to see the stub from a normal standing viewpoint. At least for me, it’s not possible. You have to either squat down or bend over deeply (or look at it from about 30 m (100 ft) away ;-).

See the proof photos ...

Now I also understand what was meant by "stub." It is hardly visible from above. I actually find the Ideal Standard model visually a bit more appealing, but (at least without AquaBlade) it has the drawback of occasional oversplashing. Tough choice.

By the way, I appreciate the commitment to the scientific journal next to the toilet. =)

Yes, that has been there for quite a while... I picked one article each about quantum physics and astronomy (written for laypeople?) and have read them about eight times so far but only understood around 10%. I hope I manage to get the hang of it in this lifetime because it’s incredibly fascinating ;-)

... and now I also noticed that the bathroom really needs a thorough damp wipe, there’s quite a bit of dust next to the magazine rack :-(
