Hello everyone,

I am considering buying a Pax wardrobe system from IKEA, specifically the drawers with the locking mechanism. My main question is: how long does the locking mechanism of these Pax drawers typically last with normal use?

I am interested in whether this mechanism is durable over the long term or if it often experiences defects, wear, or reduced functionality, especially in households with heavy use. If anyone has been using these drawers for a longer period, a review of your experience would be very helpful.

Additionally, I would like to know if there are any known weak points, if and how the locking mechanism can be maintained, and which factors can significantly affect its lifespan.

Thanks in advance for your input!

Nice closing words 🙂 I’m taking it easy as well. As long as the lock fits well and performs satisfactorily in everyday use, everything is great. And if something gets stuck, it will simply be maintained.

Thank you to everyone who contributed! The combination of experience, technical basics, and maintenance tips has answered my question very thoroughly.

For those wondering the same: Pax drawers have a very robust locking mechanism that, with proper care, lasts well for several years. Maintenance, avoiding overload, and regular cleaning are key factors. Spare parts are available, which further extends the lifespan.

I will definitely take a closer look at the wardrobe system and am looking forward to using it in practice.
