Hello everyone.
Yesterday afternoon, we had a conversation with our window installer, who was commissioned by the general contractor.
It concerns a gallery window with a rough opening size of 201cm (79 inches) width and 213.5cm (84 inches) height.
The window is fixed glazing.
He claims that he cannot supply the window as a single piece, but only in two parts.
He justified this by referring to a standard, stating that a window can only be deflected by 8mm (0.3 inches) if wind pressure is applied, and so on.
Is this all correct? Or does he simply not want to install such a large (and possibly heavy) window?

Depending on the exposed location, the argument about wind load is not nonsense and, assuming the unitary design, it is "valid" – a communication problem probably exists, and the two-part design was not recognized by the window manufacturer – possibly because the general contractor wanted to save costs and requested it without a mullion?

I think you’re somewhat missing the point. No, you said it was the one from the profile picture – and that one has a central mullion.

But we would prefer it to be one single piece. Then the window manufacturer is right, speaking as a window factory owner who handled complaints personally. The crane also comes into play; nobody carries a single large piece up the scaffold. So, without a central mullion means a more expensive installation, and if you were my customer, I’d add an extra two weeks of waiting due to cancellation policy related to warranty exclusion. All that just to enjoy an unobstructed view of the street from an internal balcony? – you don’t treat yourself often, I guess.
