Hello everyone, I recently bought several KALLAX units from IKEA and wanted to place them freely in the room, not fixed to the wall. However, I noticed that especially larger combinations tend to be a bit wobbly and don’t have the desired stability. My question is: How can large KALLAX units, standing freely, be made more stable without screwing them to the wall? Are there practical tips or accessories that can be used to improve their stability? I’m looking forward to your experiences and ideas!

Interesting, @TAUFA! Do you mean vertical rods that you insert through the compartments? Or horizontal ones? How exactly are they fixed in place? Does this work without having to drill holes?
I’m trying to make as few visible and permanent changes as possible, as I might want to use the modules differently in the future.

I can understand the concern about stability; free-standing furniture can certainly give you an uneasy feeling, especially when you have children. Maybe you could use multiple connection points: brackets, joining fittings, and additionally weights at the bottom – this way you have a double layer of safety.
