ᐅ How can I clean IKEA Besta furniture more effectively without causing damage?

Hello everyone,

I have had several IKEA Besta furniture pieces in my living room for some time now, and I would like to clean them more thoroughly while being gentle. My goal is to clean the surfaces and edges without damaging the coating or the material. So far, I mostly use a damp microfiber cloth and occasionally a neutral household cleaner, but I wonder if there are more effective methods that also preserve the furniture’s durability. Perhaps you have experience with special care products, cleaning techniques, or home remedies? Which cleaning agents should definitely be avoided to prevent scratches, discoloration, or peeling? Tips on handling hinges, handle areas, or glass tops of the Besta system are also welcome.

Thank you in advance for your suggestions!

That’s a very important question! 🙌

From my experience, I would strongly advise against anything containing alcohol, acetone, or strong solvents. The films and coatings often react negatively and can be damaged.

Haha, good question! Maybe there isn’t enough demand from the mass market yet. But until then, gentle cleaning is better.

My personal motto: "Less is more" when it comes to cleaning. Being gentle and patient often works better than scrubbing hard to remove stains.

And if you want to add a bit of shine, you can lightly treat the furniture with furniture polish for films after cleaning (but use sparingly!)—it refreshes the look without causing damage.
